ATTENTION PARENTS: In order to enter school, all 7th graders must have documentation from a physician verifying that they have received a recent Tdap vaccination (at age seven or later). This includes new students, current students and transfer students in both public and private schools. This is a new requirement by the state starting with the 2012-13 school year.
Free Tdap Vaccinations (APRIL 23 - 27)
All required childhood immunizations for children six months to 18 years of age will be provided free of charge at any county health department this week, April 23–27 in recognition of National Immunization Week. This includes the newly-required Tdap vaccination for entering 7th-graders.
Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccination provides protection against whooping cough (pertussis), a highly contagious disease that can be severe or fatal, especially in very young children. Infants who are too young to be vaccinated against pertussis must be protected by ensuring that adolescents and adults around them cannot carry the disease.
