The annual Scholastic Book Fair was a big hit at Woodley this year as parents and grandparents were invited on Thursday, October 11 for "Grandparent's Day" to have lunch with students, visit with teachers and classmates, and visit the school book fair. Students had the opportunity to show parents and grandparents exactly how the Accelerated Reader program works and the benefits of reading.  Throughout the book fair, parents and grandparents have been able to meet with librarian, Mrs. Dena Seal, and receive tips and advice on how to encourage reading at home and at school, how to find just the right book for their student, and how to connect the student with his or her ZPD (reading level). The Scholastic Book Fair will last until Tuesday, October 16! There's still time! Mrs. Seal encouraged the parents that "Most books found in the Scholastic Book Fair are AR books and students can take a quiz on the book after reading it to gain points. These points can be used throughout the year in the AR store. Students are not just limited to taking AR quizzes at school and with library books. Some personal books and books from the Hattiesburg Public Library are typically Accelerated Reader books.
